About CHATEAU DE BASTET
Julie Aubert and Nicolas Richarme are the 4th generation of the family to make wine at Château de Bastet. At the heart of the Estate in Sabran is a 62 Ha single vineyard which is surrounded by 43 Ha of virgin local flora and uncultivated nature that acts as a natural buffer.
Château de Bastet gives a lot of importance to tradition and respect for the land. Nature is treated with utmost respect with the goal to find the ideal balance between the vines and their ecosystem. The earth and the plants are nourished using natural preparations only, no chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides are used. The soil is worked in the traditional manner, plowed and the grass trimmed. The water for the estate comes from its own natural springs.
The estate is planted predominantly with Grenache, Syrah, Marselan, Mourvedre, Roussane, Marsanne and Viognier. The cellar is located in a building which was part of the original farm, dating back to 1634. The wines have been certified organic and biodynamic since 1997.
