IN THE VINEYARD:

APPELLATION: Podravje

VINEYARD: KOGL. 7 Ha. 900 ft altitude. Slopes of 20-30% with southern exposure to the Drava River Valley. 3500 vines per Ha.

VARIETAL: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

FARMING: Sustainable.

PLOUGHING: The native grass cover is maintained. Annual ploughing.

SOILS: Sandy clay, marl and lime sandstone

WEATHER: Continental with Alpine influences

VINES: 25-30 year old vines. Traditional Trellis.

HARVEST: Entirely made by hand in small crates on the 2nd half of September and early October.

IN THE CELLAR:

FERMENTATION: With the native yeasts from the Estate in Small stainless steel tanks

TREATMENTS: No chaptalization and acidification at all. The idea is to stay natural as much as possible.

PRESSING: Traditional.

MALOLACTIC: Spontaneous, if any.

LEES: Approx. 3 months lees contact

OAK BARREL AGING: No.

FINING/ FILTRATION: The wine is allowed to settle naturally by gravity and is only minimally fined or filtered.

SULFUR: Minimum

WINEMAKER: Franci Cvetko.

PHILOSOPHY: We believe that the best wines are born in the vineyard.

TASTING NOTES: Gentle lemon yellow color with green tinges. Aromas of elderflower, nettle and tomato leaves with layers of ripe white fruits. Elegant in the mouth, with good balance, a touch of spice and a long, persistent finish.

ABOUT THE NAME: 'Mea Culpa', meaning 'My Fault', accompanied by his fingerprint on the label, is winemaker Franci Cvetka's cheeky way of taking responsibility and ideally credit for his wines.
