VINTAGE: 2013 was an excellent year with textbook grape growing weather. Spring brought an above-average crop set, necessitating green thinning to keep yields down. Summer weather was ideal, with cool fog in the morning, clearing to hot sunny skies in the early afternoon, followed by temperatures swiftly dropping after sunset. This created temperature swings of up to 40º F, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

WINEMAKING: Traditional, with minimal interventions
AGING: 15 months in 70% new Saury French oak; 30% neutral French oak
PRODUCTION: 612 cases
TASTING NOTES: Dark crimson color with bright purple rim. Cassis, black cherry, black pepper and espresso fill an aromatic nose. Continued flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate and spice on a well balanced palate. Lingering finish with notes of black tea and blueberry.
