Semaphore 7 2016 Vintage Report:

  • Harvest was from August 23rd - October 11th, two weeks later than previous vintages

  • Average yield of 6 Tons/Ha of red grapes

  • Average yield of 7.5 Tons/Ha of white grapes

  • White grapes ripened 2 weeks later than previous vintages

  • Red grapes ripened 3 weeks later than previous vintages

  • Most grapes arrived to the winery in very good condition with good phenolic ripeness

  • The harvest finished on the 9th of October, with the Touriga Franca vines the last to ripen

  • As of October 17th, almost all alcoholic fermentation has ended and malolactic is now in progress

  • Winery expects this vintage will produce "entry and middle level wines of superb quality, with a lot of expression and character, very aromatic and balanced"
