Vinabade Albarino 2020 receives 91 points from Mundus Vini.
Located in the heart of the Salnes Valley, Viñabade was founded by Manuel Vázquez 50 years ago. The second generation of the family, sister and brother Myriam and Manuel Vázquez, now run the winery. They select the best grapes from their own vineyard to produce wines of character and personality.
The name "Viñabade" means "Abbot's Vineyard" in the Galician language, a reference to the Cluny monks who are believed to have brought Albariño to the area from Burgundy in the 12th or 13th century. The winery is located in Val do Salnés, the oldest sub-zone of Rias Baixas. Val do Salnés, located on the Atlantic coast, is known as the birthplace of the Albariño grape. The granitic soil and cool Atlantic climate provide perfect growing conditions for Albariño, producing elegant, fresh and crisp wines.
De Vecci Negroamaro Salento
Our vineyards are located just a few miles north of Lecce, in the Salento Peninsula. Surrounded on three sides by the sea, it is the southernmost tip of Puglia, a tongue of land between the Adriatic and Ionian seas. The Mediterranean climate is known for its sun and for the regular sea breezes, which waft through the vineyards and help to keep the vines healthy.
The soils are predominantly clay-calcareous, reddish terre rosse and rocky, mineral-rich soils, contributing to the personality of our wines. We believe that wine must be made, first and foremost in the vineyard and we pay particular attention to traditional agricultural practices, aimed at respecting the environment, and capable of producing healthy grapes.
Life here flows in contact with nature among vineyards and centuries-old olive groves with patches of native holm-oak (leccio). We grow only native varietals. No chemicals are used (fertilizers, pesticides, additives. The vineyards are dry farmed and the grapes are harvested by hand.
The winemaker, Piero Serio, is a native of the town and the third generation of the family to make wine. Negroamaro is the local king varietal, a native grape with a tight, compact cluster; the grapes exudes spicy Mediterranean scrub and liquorice root. The Negroamaro vines are trained in either the traditional alberello, or low bush style, or to a low vertical-trellis.
Fermentation happens spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts that are naturally present on the skin of the grapes; it takes place in concrete tanks, the wine then rest in large traditional oak barrels in our cellar. No winemaking additives are used and the wines are certified as Organic in the EU.
Ricominciare Malbec Cabernet Franc 2019 receives 91 points from James Suckling.
In 1902, Nicolás Catena arrived in Argentina from Italy. In Finca La Libertad in Mendoza, he continued an ancient tradition in new lands. Jorge, his grandson, inherited this legacy and passion for winemaking. Today, Viviana Catena, Jorge's daughter, and her family continue the traditional winemaking methods passed down by their great-grandfather.
Ricominciare only uses grapes from their San Vicente Vineyard, in La Consulta, Valle de Uco. This vineyard has been in the family for more than 50 years. Deep sandy soils, the high altitude of the vineyards and the water coming from the thaw of the Andes Mountains combine to create wines of unique personality.
The harvest is done 100% by hand. Only native yeasts are used and fermentation is done in small tanks plot by plot. The wines are bottled with no fining and only a very light filtration. The aim is always elegance.

Pet-Nat Cider Half Bottles from our Friends at Botanist and Barrel!
Today, we are very pleased to introduce the Coup de Foudre Pet Nat, a cider that is artisanally hand-made by our friends at Botanist and Barrel in North Carolina.
“As certified organic farmers, we value quality over quantity. Similar to world-class viticulture for wines, we farm for flavor by dry-farming. While this keeps yields down, it keeps quality up. We partner with other farmers who share our belief. As fruits contain a 'bloom,' the powdery white coating found on fruit that contains ambient yeast. We love this natural and wild yeast to create unique and lovely ciders.
Our ciders are made without additives. They are 'still alive' as we never kill or remove the mixed cultures (yeasts) through unneeded processing. We choose not to fine, filter, or pasteurize.”
-Lyndon and Kether Smith

Dissegna Sparkling Rosé … Prosecco Rosé Next Year!
This Rosé is an elegant pink color with delicate aromas of red berries, raspberries and strawberries, and lively small bubbles. As of 2021, this wine can be officially referred to as a Prosecco Rosé.

One of the most enduring lessons Francesco learned was the importance of respecting nature and following its rhythms: “The vine is like a mother and every wine is its creation, with a well-defined personality that reflects the originality of the territory.” In accordance with this inherited regard for nature, Francesco converted his farming to organic practices in 1998, a decision he refers to as “a choice of life and work.”
90 Points and a Best Buy from Wine Enthusiast for Mehofer Klassik Grüner Veltliner 2019!
We want to take a moment to congratulate Mehofer for a fantastic review! Wine Enthusiast has given Mehofer Klassik Grüner Veltliner 2019 90 points and a Best Buy distinction! This organic wine has a fresh nose of apple and herbs with nutty notes. It's delicate and elegant on the palate with continued balanced flavors of fruit and herbs, and a medium body.
The Mehofer family has lived and farmed the land in Neudeggerhof, Austria for 10 generations, over 300 years! In 1992, they became one of the first wineries in the area to convert to 100% organic production.
Stephan Mehofer, grower, winemaker and head of the 10th generation, goes beyond using organic methods by dry farming the vineyards and seeding the rows with a mix of clover, buckwheat, and radishes to encourage biodiversity. He deeply believes in the philosophy of making the wine on the vineyard, comparing the grapes to musicians in an orchestra and explaining “The winemaker, as a conductor, only spreads what already exists." As a result, he employs as few interventions as possible in the cellar, using no winemaking additives and only lightly fining or filtering.
