About Legado MuÑoz
The Muñoz family has been making wine in the area around Noblejas for six generations. Their carefully selected vineyard locations and vines, crop thinning and poor calcareous soils combine to produce concentrated and structured wines. Yields are kept strictly low and the average age of the vines is 30 years.
Their winemaker, Bienvenido Muñoz, was named 'Winemaker of the Year' in Castilla la Mancha in 2004. Bienvenido uses only native yeasts for fermentation and bottling takes place after very light filtration.
The family recently acquired a former 17th century subterranean cellar, dug into the bedrock. The installations are being painstakingly restored and are already being used to age the Estate's top wines, in perfect temperature and humidity conditions.
