Montjau is a single vineyard with round stone soils in the Montjau Mountain. The vineyard is surrounded by local flora and uncultivated nature. Nature is treated with utmost respect with the goal to find the ideal balance between the vines and their ecosystem. The earth and the plants are nourished using natural preparations only, no chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides are used. The soil is worked in the traditional manner, plowed and the grass trimmed. The varietals planted predominantly are Grenache, Syrah, Marselan, Mourvedre, Roussane, Marsanne and Viognier. The wines are certified organic.
VARIETAL: 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache,10% Mourvedre and 10% Carignan, all estate grown
VINEYARD: The vineyard spreads out on round pebbles soils located on the Montjau hill, above the Bourg Saint Andéol village. The vineyard is made out of old vines (40+ years).
FARMING PRACTICES: Organic farming
VINIFICATION: Traditional
TASTING NOTES: A bright ruby red color. Cocoa and mild spices on the nose. On the palate is powerful, with notes of red berries. The wine is ample, with a bold structure, the tannins are nicely supple.
